Tuesday, May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Relatives (MMIWG/MMIR), established to honor victims, support families, and shine a light on the epidemic of violence against Native people. The Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition (NUIHC), Healing Ribbons, Omaha Native community, and many community organizations bring awareness to this cause through song, dance, and providing a safe space for all to come together.
