Four days of free events to begin on July 1st in downtown Omaha

The RiverFront has announced a long weekend filled with free events, activities and concerts in downtown Omaha to commemorate the redesigned Gene Leahy Mall grand opening celebration.

Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront will open for its first day of operations on Friday, July 1. Along with robust programming provided by numerous local partners, a free concert on Friday night will feature Tony and Emmy Award Winner Kristin Chenoweth (known for her roles in Wicked, On the Twentieth Century, GLEE, The West Wing and Pushing Daises) backed by the Omaha Symphony.

Friday, July 1: The incredibly talented actor and singer Kristin Chenoweth will headline the first Gene Leahy Mall Performance Pavilion concert alongside the prestigious Omaha Symphony at 8:00 PM. An innovative multimedia show will follow, utilizing projectors, LED lights and speakers strategically placed around the park.
Saturday, July 2: Country music star Brett Eldredge takes over the Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront Performance Pavilion for another concert with special guest Lauren Alaina at 8:00 PM.
Sunday, July 3: Transitioning to live, theatric performance on Sunday night, the University of Nebraska-Omaha Theatre Department presents the dazzling and beloved musical Fame at 8:00 PM in the Performance Pavilion.
Monday, July 4: To close a day full of events throughout the park, the Omaha Symphony presents a Salute to our Military. The 8:00 PM concert is sponsored by the USS Omaha Commissioning Committee and concludes with an Independence Day fireworks spectacular.

Getting Here

Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront is located between Farnam and Douglas Streets, from 13th to 8th Streets. Along with metered parking stalls, several Park Omaha garages are within proximity. The RiverFront is also along the Omaha Metro and ORBT bus routes.

Park Rules

Blankets and portable lawn chairs are welcome. Staking items and plastic tarps are prohibited. The RiverFront and MECA Tri Park, LLC are not responsible for unattended property.
